A WHIMSICAL PLACE

for something special...

This was sent to me, and I decided to put it here for all to see. I hope you find it worthwhile to to pass along. It has no title of which I am aware, and the author is unknown to me. So I will tell them here.. very well said!

UNTITLED

I went to that party, but I remembered what you said. You told me not to drink, Mom, so I drank soda instead. I really felt proud inside, just the way you said I would. I didn't drink and drive, Mom, although others said I could. I know I did the right thing. Mom, I knew that you were right. But when the party ended, it was not a pretty sight. As I got into my car, I thought I'd get home alive. Because you'd always taught me, be responsible or don't drive. I started to drive away, Mom, but as I pulled onto the road, another car didn't see me, and it hit me like a load. As I lay there on the pavement, I heard someone say, the other guy is drunk, and now this girl will pay. So here I am , Mom, dying. I wish you'd get here soon. How could this happen to me? My life just burst like a balloon. There is blood all around me, Mom, and most of it is mine. I knew you heard the medic say I'll die in a short time. But I wanted you to know, Mom, I swear I didn't drink. It was someone else's fault. Someone who didn't think. He was probably at the same party as I. The only difference is, he drank and I will die. I wish his mom had taught him as you taught me all my life. Alcohol can kill, just as sure as any knife. I can see the guy who hit me, Mom, and I don't think it's fair. Here I lay slowly dying, and yet he stands and stares. Tell my brother not to cry, Mom. Tell Daddy to be brave. Tell him when I go to heaven, I want "Daddy's Girl" on my grave. I wish someone had told that guy not to drink and drive. I hope my life will teach him, though I'm no longer alive. It's very hard to breathe now, I'm becoming very scared. Hold me just a little longer, Mom. I need to know you're there. I have one last question, Mom, before I say good bye. I didn't drink and drive, so why am I the one to die? ************************ AUTHOR UNKNOWN ************************ Please forward this to as many people as you can, and see if we can get a chain going around the world that will make people understand that drinking and driving don't mix. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, so please forward this letter to as many people as you can. Quote "The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy
